AATCC 147

Antibacterial Activity of Textile Materials: Parallel Streak

BioLabTests offers AATCC 147 testing as a quick and simple test to determine the level of antibacterial efficacy in your fabric samples. BioLabTests can accommodate AATCC 147 testing using a variety of organisms relevant to your product’s application. If you are interested in this service, please get in touch.

The AATCC 147 Procedure & Assessment

The test relies on a visual examination after a period of contact between your fabric sample and bacteria. This test is applicable for fabric samples with a diffusible antibacterial agent only. BioLabTests also offers a separate contact plate test for non-diffusible antimicrobials.

Things to note

Recommendations

AATCC 147 can give quick results before you proceed with more labour-intensive and expensive testing. BioLabTests recommends running either AATCC 147, if your samples contain diffusible antimicrobials, or our contact plate method for samples contain a non-diffusible antimicrobial agent (typically metal ion technology) to first assess antibacterial effect.
